PM Xanana Gusmao: "Miss Timor is Product of Lazy Policy Making‏"

The Prime Minister explained to the people of the Districts of Ermera and Liquica that the Miss Timor event planned for this year by the Ministry of Tourism falls into the category of lazy policy making or planning, because it runs counter to the basic infrastructure needs of the country. 

"Don't believe this plan by the Ministry of Tourism, because it is something that was suddenly dreamed up, which I consider as not being part of an integrated plan, ill thought out as to how this Miss Timor event could be of benefit for us," Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao said, during his community dialogue, last Saturday 4 April at the Gleno Administration auditorium, district of Ermera. 

 He added, only when the population of Timor-Leste understands what it means to hold an event such as Miss Timor can be held with certainty.

"The time is not here yet to hold a Miss Timor type event, because we are all still preoccupied with other programs of greater priority for Timor-Leste, not Miss Timor," he pointed out. 

Xanana acknowledged that the Miss Timor event plan does not correspond with the current living conditions of the population, and "Miss Municipality will be the thing that will free the population from their current economic, cultural and social situation," Xanana said. 

The former resistance leader added that it was the people who built this state through their sacrifice, so, it will be the establishment of municipalities that will improve the lives of the people who sacrificed so much already for this nation and its independence, not to worry about things like Miss Timor instead. 

 "There are many Miss Timors, we have Miss administration, miss coordination, Miss understanding, Miss lazy and many other Misses," Xanana followed up saying. 

The CNRT Party President asked the people of Ermera to prepare themselves to receive the establishment of Miss municipalities, because it is the municipalities that will bring something good in the future.
