Regarding the Timorese National Police (PNTL) commander, Commissioner Longuinhos Monteiro’s mandate that will end in March this year, Non Governmental Organization, Fundasaun Mahein (FM) said Timorese National Police needed a new figure to resolve several difficulties that had not yet been resolved.
According to FM’s researcher, Joao Almeida, Longuinhos had contributed to PNTL’s development process, but there were still some difficulties such as Community Police’s service, basic infrastructure in PNTL headquarter, Dili district Command, and other districts were not maximum yet, therefore, PNTL needed new figure to resolve those problems.
“We had recommended last year to the Government to identify another person from PNTL institution to lead PNTL because in PNTL has had enough human resources to replace its current commander and we will not forget the Commander Monteiro’s contribution to PNTL,” Joao Almeida told journalists in his office, Balide of Dili on Tuesday 22.
